Starting secondary school

"My name in Ben and I’m 12. I want to tell you about when I was going to secondary school. I was very scared. It looked big and scary. Lots of my friends were going to a different school so I didn’t know many people. Dad suggested I join the local football team so I could make friends. I really love football. Some of the boys in the team are a year older than me so they said they’d show me around.

"I was very nervous on my first day. I had to wear a uniform. It was weird. Danny from footy showed me around the building and introduced me to all his friends. The first day was fun as we got to know our classmates and our teachers. I also joined the school football team so that I could meet new friends. I now have tons of friends and I like PE and Maths best."
